San Antonio at Orlando, Final Score: Spurs dominate Magic 107-79

The Spurs were looking for revenge against a Magic team that beat them in San Antonio in November. Orlando’s youth and speed are what hurt the Spurs then, but the Magic are without proven Spur killer Serge Ibaka, who was traded to Toronto for Terrance Ross and a first round pick on Valentine’s Day.

It started well for San Antonio, with the Spurs leading 30-16 after one.. LaMarcus Aldridge led all scorers with 13, hitting his first 5 shots. The Spurs stingy defense led to 9 Orlando turnovers in the first quarter.

The Spurs continued their stingy defense into the second quarter, only allowing 21 points in the quarter, to take a 54-37 lead into halftime. The Magic didn’t have a scorer in double figures in the first half, while Kawhi led the Spurs with 15.

Kawhi had 7 of the Spurs first 11 points in the 3rd quarter, and Aldridge had the other 4...And then Danny hit a 3 for his first points of the night, and Orlando called a quick timeout at 68-45. The Magic then went on an 8-0 run to bring them within 15 and force Pop to call time. The San Antonio bench never allowed the Magic to truly threaten, though, as they ended the quarter with a 21 point lead, 85-64.

The fourth quarter was mostly uneventful, the Spurs bench nursing a comfortable lead, and the Magic not being able to cut into it. Kyle Anderson came in and scored 8 points in helping stretch the lead to 26, and we caught our first glimpse of Joel Anthony, who altered a few shots and had 2 rebounds. In the 28 point win, Aldridge ended up leading all scorers with 23 points on the night, without seeing much action in the fourth quarter. Nikola Vucevic led the Magic with 16 points in the loss.
