Who has stepped up the most in Kawhi Leonard’s absence?

Here are today’s best Spurs news and articles.

NBA: Phoenix Suns at San Antonio Spurs Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

It has been a roller coaster ride the first few weeks of the season for the San Antonio Spurs. They started strong with a four game winning streak despite missing Kawhi Leonard and Tony Parker, proceeded to lose four straight during a long road trip, and have now won three straight at home.

Without their MVP and main floor general, it has taken team efforts to get to a respectable 7-4 record - surprisingly good for second-best in the West! A newly-extended LaMarcus Aldridge has a been a big part of that, but other players have come up big as well. Rob Wolkenbrod at Fansided’s Air Alamo compiled a list of the five players who have stepped up the most in Leonard’s absence.

Danny Green has no soul

We all know what a revelation Danny Green has been on offense this season. Two-pointers, shots of the dribble, driving to the rim...we have all been in awe as the once 3-and-D specialist with no handles has suddenly become a relative offensive juggernaut. The good folks over at Vice Sports are just as surprised as we are, especially when it came to picking their Dunk of the Week:

Shaqtin’ a Fool

The Spurs rarely make “Shaqtin’ a Fool” - a hilarious series by Shaquille O’Neal on TNT’s Inside the NBA that points out the five players/coaches that made the biggest fools of themselves on the court over the previous week - and that was still the case this week. However an opponent they were playing at the time did make it. I even remember seeing this play and thinking it could be on Shaqtin’:

Speaking of fools...

Extremely brief one-time Spur Jimmer Fredette got into it with Stephon Marbury in the Chinese league after apparently feeling like he was fouled on a blocked layup attempt (it looked clean).

Remember, Jimmer, don’t mess with the Starbury, especially when he’s probably the only reason you even have a playing career in China. Besides, American basketball players have already made a bad enough impression over there this week.

Have a good weekend!
