Just a year after signing away Aron Baynes, Stan Van Gundy is at it again, stealing an international center off the Spurs bench.
Detroit is signing Spurs restricted free agent Boban Marjanovic to a three-year, $21 million offer sheet, according to league sources
— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) July 7, 2016
Boban spent one year with the Spurs where he quickly became a fan favorite, often entering a game to "Boban" chants and loud applause. The 7' 3" Serbian played limited minutes in his rookie campaign but was quite promising in those limited minutes.
In his 500 minutes on the floor he put up a PER of 27.7, and averaged 21 points and 14 rebounds per 36 minutes.
The Spurs can match the offer, but that doesn't look like it will happen according to Marc Stein. In fact, it looks like they've moved on, signing center Dewayne Dedmon to a deal.
This is turning into a rough summer for Spurs fans.
