As a public figure, Tim Duncan is famously a man of few words, an athlete who's valued the separation between his professional and personal lives. A few days after announcing his retirement through a team press release and letter to his fans, Duncan sat down with childhood friend Rashidi Clenance to reflect on his decision, playing career, and growing up in the Virgin Islands, among other topics.
In terms of farewell interviews, it's fairly unconventional: Duncan's host dominates portions of the conversation; the flow meanders from time to time, and the NBA great seems more at ease riffing on the city of San Antonio and his fans than many of his on-court accomplishments. In other words, it's a very Tim Duncan interview, and it's definitely worth a listen.
