Davis Bertans isn't the only draft-and-stash player that will get his chance to earn a meaningful roster spot for the Spurs next season. Livio Jean-Charles -- who last played for the Tony Parker-owned French team ASVEL -- is set to join the Spurs on unknown contract terms.
With Jean-Charles, Davis Bertans and 29th pick of the 2016 NBA draft, Dejounte Murray, there will likely be three NBA rookies on the San Antonio roster next season. That's half as many rookies as the Spurs have played over the past four seasons combined. By injecting plenty of youth into the roster the Spurs are looking to the future and they have the luxury of developing their players without much pressure.
Last season for ASVEL Jean-Charles averaged 5.9 points, 4.6 rebounds in 21 minutes per game.
