The schedule for both the Las Vegas and Utah Summer Leagues has been recently announced by the NBA and both events will feature the Spurs. San Antonio will not participate in the Orlando Summer League.
The Utah Summer League was revived last season and featured the Jazz, 76ers, Celtics and Spurs. This season the same franchises will represented. The event consists of the four teams all playing one game against the others. Unlike the Las Vegas Summer League, there is no championship round. The Utah Summer League will kick off on July 4.
After competing there, the Spurs will move on to Nevada, where they will join 22 other NBA squads as well as a D-League select team to compete for the Las Vegas Summer League championship. The Spurs won the title last year, led by Becky Hammon, Kyle Anderson and Jonathon Simmons. The event kicks off on July 8 but the Spurs will make their debut on July 9.
We don't know yet who will be a part of the Spurs' team but their 2016 pick will surely be there. Nikola Milutinov, San Antonio's 2015 first round pick, is also expected to participate in Summer League play. There have been rumors about 2011 second round pick Davis Bertans potentially being signed when free agency stars. If he is, he will likely also be a part of the squad.
It's hard to see a third-year players like Anderson participating but Simmons might be on the squad while other past Summer and Austin Spurs like Cady Lalanne, Youssou Ndoye and Deshaun Thomas will probably get an invite. Former first round pick Livio Jean-Charles was part of the team last year and is coming off a championship season with ASVEL, so he might garner another look. It wouldn't be surprising to see Hammon once again coach the team.
Summer League will also provide a chance to see the top rookies in the new class. The Spurs will very likely compete against No.1 overall pick Ben Simmons in Utah and could also go against whoever the Celtics select third overall.
