San Antonio at Oklahoma City, Final Score: Spurs execute down the stretch, defeat Thunder 100-96

New, comments

The Thunder fought back to take the lead in the fourth quarter, but the Spurs executed down the stretch to regain home advantage and lead the series 2-1.

Spurs Win!  Westbrook dominated for much of the game, but Kawhi Leonard, Tony Parker and LaMarcus Aldridge were able to out-execute the Thunder in the final minutes and propel the Spurs to a win.

Game Flow:

The Spurs led for almost all of the game, but the Thunder, behind Westbrook's indomitable will, closed up the gap and surged to a 4 point lead late in the game.  But the Spurs closed out the game strongly behind Kawhi Leonard's clutch play.  Tony Parker had his best game in the series, hitting key three-point shots to keep the Spurs in the game.

Observations:

  • Backyard party was really great!  The only hitch was when Wilco called me really late and asked me to do the final score as an emergency replacement.  I didn't really take any notes during the game.
  • Hey, Tony Parker is still pretty good isn't he?
  • LaMarcus Aldridge, I think that acquisition turned out OK.

Music Break:

Final Thoughts:

With this win, the Spurs regain home court advantage for the series and lead 2 games to 1.  It sets up another critical road game on Sunday at 7:00 PM where the Spurs can put more pressure on the Thunder, because if they win, it sets up a closeout game on Tuesday in San Antonio.
