The Spurs are dealing with their growing pains

Win streak, check. Within striking distance of the Warriors, check. Incorporating 7 new players, check. All of the above even with lots to still work on, double check.

While the Spurs have continued their extremely clutch play over the past week, they’ve also continued to play in a way that has required them to be clutch. (Aside from the second half of the Timberwolves game, that is.) That’s significant not only as a barometer for the team against the previous incarnations of the Spurs, but also because of what I think it reveals about Gregg Popovich’s mindset regarding the team.

That’s the first main topic that I discuss with Seth Warren in episode 27 of the Superfluous Poppycock podcast, but we also look at Davis Bertans shaping up as an enforcer, Tony Parker’s tie-in to M. Night Shyamalan and Samuel L. Jackson, and the genesis of yet another nickname.
