Earlier today, Quixem Ramirez made the case for the Spurs to pull Pau Gasol from the starting lineup and replace him with Dewayne Dedmon. It’s well written, has a number of good points, and you should definitely check it out.
And it might sound odd to you if you regularly listen to the Superfluous Poppycock podcast (because of how critical I’ve been of Gasol’s defense) but I don’t think Pop should be messing around with the starting lineup right now. I love Dewayne Dedmon, think his defense is awesome, and would be fine with him getting more playing time, but that’s all for now.
In episode 28, Seth Warren and I talk about the Pau/Dewayne question and why I think the the Spurs should stick with their current starters, we discuss the effect that LaMarcus Aldridge’s return to social media could be having on his game, talk about who the Spurs’ number two player is, and disagree about whether it’s better to watch games in person or from home — especially when it’s something important like a night the Spurs are retiring Tim Duncan’s jersey.
