The game Manu Ginobili played against Michael Jordan

In his first ever blog post written in English, Manu reminisces on his only opportunity to share the court with his childhood idol, MJ.

Spurs guard Manu Ginobili blogs occasionally, but it’s always in Spanish — until now.

Ginobili penned his first blog post in English Monday afternoon, and it’s a good one. He looked back on his only game against Michael Jordan (Wizards Michael Jordan, that is) in 2003, Ginobili’s rookie year.

He played just one minute in the game, and he wishes he would have seen more time on the court against the player he idolized growing up. The one shot he took was a 40-foot desperation heave at the first-half buzzer.

He concludes his post by recounting how he told the story to his six-year-old sons, Dante and Nico:

So I told them who he was and showed them some memorable highlights on YouTube. When done I asked them, did you guys know that once I played against him? And I began telling them this story while their eyes were getting bigger and bigger.

It’s a pretty cool story, especially given how well he remembered a game 13 years in the past. Give it a read.
