The San Antonio Spurs announced Wednesday afternoon via press release that rookie Dejounte Murray has been assigned to the D-League Austin Spurs.
Murray, a 2016 first-round draft pick out of Washington, hadn’t spent much time on the court for the Spurs: in the two games he appeared in, he logged two rebounds and an assist in nine minutes.
Austin’s season doesn’t kick off until Nov. 13, so Murray will have some time to adjust before the season gets started.
It’s an expected move from the team, and if the stellar performance of Spurs guard Jonathon Simmons, who spent two years in Austin, is any indication, it may not be the worst news for Murray.
