Kawhi Leonard and Dejounte Murray shine in first preseason game

Highlights from the Spurs’ first half of their first preseason game against the Phoenix Suns

NBA: Playoffs-San Antonio Spurs at Oklahoma City Thunder Mark D. Smith-USA TODAY Sports

In the first half of the Spurs’ preseason tilt with the Phoenix Suns, Kawhi Leonard scored a quick seven points less than seven minutes to put San Antonio ahead. But the play of the first quarter came with the clock ticking down as Dejounte Murray rose up after crossing mid-court.

Then the rest of the 2nd quarter highlights belonged to Leonard, who drove through the defense...

had a nice little play free him for a three...

and then just decided to make it happen from deep without any help at all.

And it’s that last shot that really showed how much work Kawhi put into his game over the summer. Man, he’s going to free up some serious space for his teammates if he’s able to do that with any kind of consistency this year.
