Game Preview: San Antonio Spurs at Detroit Pistons

The last game before the All-Star break brings the Spurs to the Motor City, where the Silver and Black will look to avenge a loss to the Pistons from earlier this year.

The Spurs and Pistons last met in January, in the crest of the mid-winter fever dream that was Detroit's post-Josh Smith renaissance. On that night, the Spurs squandered a huge early lead, the Pistons formed a *bleeping* wall and, shortly after, picked up what would be the sixth of their season-best seven-game winning streak (they won 12 of 15 overall at one point).

Since then the Pistons have come back to earth a bit, thanks in no small part to Brandon Jennings' torn Achilles, the man who scored the game-winning basket against San Antonio. Backup D.J. Augustin has stepped up as the team's starting point guard, putting up some gaudy numbers, but losses to teams like Minnesota and Philadelphia recently have tempered the team's hopes of making a run at the eighth seed in the east.

The last loss to the Pistons was without Kawhi in the lineup, and Tony Parker was nowhere near 100%. With the health situations of these teams reversed, and over a week of rest before their next game, I think San Antonio makes sure to get the victory here.

Matchup to watch: Tim Duncan vs. Andre Drummond. In the game Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, you as the player intermittently face off against the eponymous villain, an intimidating beast that you can't kill most of the time. You can only use whatever weapons you have at your disposal to keep him at bay until the next inevitable run-in. Andre Drummond's kind of like that, especially when you're 38-years-old.
