San Antonio Spurs vs Denver Nuggets
December 26, 2015, 7:30 p.m. Spurs Time
TV: FSSW - RADIO: 1200 AM WOAI
The Denver Nuggets beat the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday the 23rd after losing their previous three games to the Jazz, Pelicans and Lakers and will come into the River City on several days rest while the Spurs played the Rockets on Christmas Night. The Nuggets are entering a three-games-in-four-nights stretch, having to play the Thunder on Sunday night in OKC and then hosting the Cavaliers on Tuesday, a stretch of games that seems far from fun for the Nugs. The good guys are in the middle of their own three-game-in-four-nights stretch, though it is the Nuggets and Wolves instead of the Cavs and Thunder.
The last time these two teams played, on November 27th in Denver, the Spurs were also in the second game in a three-games-in-four-nights stretch. Gregg Popovich decided to leave Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili at home for that one and the Spurs still left Denver a 91-80 winner. With today's game being played in San Antonio, I'd expect the Spurs to come out with their full squad, try to create a comfortable margin early and get some honest rest for their veterans.
The Nuggets come into the game owning the 20th most efficient offense in the league and are 26th in net rating, while the Spurs are still leading the league, by a wide margin, in defensive rating. If the Spurs play their game they should pick up their 26th win of the season and remain unbeaten in their building.
Matchup to watch:
If you're anything like me, you'll spend a lot of time watching Tim Duncan but if that gets old, be sure to check out Kawhi and Danilo Gallinari go at it if Gallinari's ankle is good to go. That should be a fun show, especially if you're a fan of the Silver and Black.
