GIF Breakdown: Spurs at Wizards

New, comments

The Spurs failed to push their win-streak to four as they lost to the Wizards. Let's look at a few things that the Spurs did well on Wednesday night.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Just like my cable connection during the game, the Spurs' play cut in and out all night. I apologize in advance for any great play that I missed, please send any complaints to Time Warner.

This play was reminiscent of the ball movement that the 2013-14 Spurs mastered, a la "Spursgasm". It's hypnotic in its fluidity. I think we're all wondering exactly how LaMarcus Aldridge is going to fit into the team and what the team is going to look like as they find their identity. Perhaps LMA should have taken the open midrange jumper, but it is nice to see him make a quick pass out.

I don't know how Kawhi Leonard got this shot to drop so purely. What great focus and control he shows to finish through the contact. Bonus content: Tony Parker, David West and Danny Green with fist pumps as Kawhi finishes.

Okay, it's time for us to come up with a phrase for the Kawhi steal and score. Give us your best ideas in the comments.

Evolution. Tight game, late fourth quarter, shot clock winding down. For the past  13 seasons it's been Tim, Tony or Manu with the ball in that situation. Now we see Tim give Whi the rock so he can do his thing. Leonard's midrange game is becoming a thing of beauty.

Let's finish with a couple crunch time plays from The Wee Frenchman. Tony's D is what it is, but he's looking good offensively and that makes me feel good about the team.

That's it for this one Spurs fans. We'll be back after the Hornets game on Friday.
