By the Numbers: Spurs stifle Knicks

New, comments

The Spurs scored lots of easy buckets and prevented the Knicks from doing the same as they claimed their 3rd straight victory in New York

Anthony Gruppuso-USA TODAY Sports

Spurs 94, Knicks 84 - Nov 2, '15

Quick thoughts:

  • The Spurs lost the rebounding and turnover battles, but reminded us why shooting percentage is king, as they crushed the Knicks in that category on their way to victory.
  • The Spurs scored an outrageous 56 points in the paint, shooting a blistering 76.5% from point blank.  Hard to lose when you do that
  • For the second game this season, the Spurs have held an opponent to exactly 0 fast break points.  Pop approves.
  • The Spurs' four best players were their biggest contributors, all scoring 16+.  It's great to see the guys you count on contributing like that.
  • The Spurs scored a whopping 20 points in a 5 minute stretch in the 2nd quarter.  If they kept that pace up for an entire game they'd finish with a pretty solid 192.  Which is what I'm projecting they'll be averaging by the end of the season.
  • The Knicks have a lot of talent and a bright future if they can keep from screwing it all up.
