Final Score: Spurs beat Nuggets, 109-99

San Antonio extends its win streak to four as they improve to 27-16 by beating the Nuggets in the thin air of Denver.

Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

This was a pretty ugly game for the most part (especially so at the beginning as the Spurs missed eleven of their first twelve shots) and the two teams contributed equally for 32 turnovers but the Spurs didn't lose a quarter and in the end they won by a comfortable 10 points. The Spurs lead was three at the half, four after three and the good guys outscored the Nuggets 29 to 23 in the deciding frame.

Kawhi Leonard continues to be a bright spot for the Spurs in his third game back from that hand injury. He finished with the stout line of 17-15-3-2-1 and is inspiring confidence with each minute on the floor.

Quick Notes:

  • Tony Parker continues to be great in his selective three-point shooting going 1-for-1 in this one bring his season totals to 21-37. He doesn't qualify for the official nba 3-pt % leaderboard (minimum one make per game), but his 56.7% mark bests Korver's 53%.
  • The Spurs are now 8-2 over their last 10 games which is best mark in the west behind only the Warriors (9-1). The Spurs have the easiest schedule in the West until the all-star break by a fair margin. I see a healthy climb up the standings.
  • Timmy Duncan had the strange line of 0-2-2-2-1 at the half. Then the veteran scored 16 second half points.
  • The Spurs assisted 71% (27-38) of their field goals including one on the GIF below.

GIF of the Night:

Spurs gonna Spurs. Everyone touches it and the team gets a wide-open triple as the Spurs push their margin. Beautiful ball movement.

Your Spurs improve to 27-16 and will be in the Windy City to take on the Bulls on Thursday night at 7 p.m. Spurs time.
