The third round of the PtR Summer Showdown kicks off with two of this tournament's favorite players going head-to-head.
It's a half-court game in which the scoring increments are 1 point for everything inside the arc and 2 points for everything outside the arc, so long-distance bombers will do well in our tourney. The higher seed starys off with the ball and the first player to 11 points wins. The possession switches every time the ball is scored, and your votes determine the winner.
LeBron James (1st Seed)
LeBron has had a touch-and-go first two rounds. He faced Michael Carter-Williams, who had an early run that gave LeBron a small scare. He moved on to Round 2 to face Tony Parker who also had a commanding early lead before LeBron put it in second gear and came back to trounce Parker. As he takes on his third opponent, he will face his biggest challenge yet.
Kawhi Leonard displayed ability to slow down LeBron James better than anyone in the last five years. LeBron is extremely efficient on offense. The reason he has been labeled as the favorite in this tournament is how much bigger he is than everyone else. He has very few holes in his offensive game, but Kawhi may be best suited to stop LeBron.
Kawhi Leonard (2nd Seed)
Kawhi has had a much easier road to the third round. He has dominated each of his first two matchups from beginning to end. Easily his toughest matchup occurs in this round.
Kawhi's biggest issue is his streaky shooting, but he has serious athleticism. He can finish at the rim with authority and consistency. He can score in many different ways, but despite this, LeBron is going to give him problems.
Kawhi has the home-court advantage in this game, and it might have caught LeBron at the right time.
