Cory Joseph rated 73 overall in NBA 2K15

Despite losing the backup point guard spot last season, Joseph still gets a nine-point overall rating increase.

Third-string point guard Cory Joseph will have a 73 overall rating in NBA 2K15, nine points higher than his 64 rating in 2K14, according to a leak that surfaced last week.

It'll be interesting to see what 2K saw in Joseph to give him quite the boost. In the 2012-13 season, he eventually won the spot as Tony Parker's backup, but then lost it when Patty Mills showed up to the following season's training camp in great shape and with a hot shooting hand to start off this past championship season.

Joseph lost the spot because he wasn't able to match Mills' offensive firepower, though he is a better defender. As J. Gomez pointed out, the Spurs need the point guard in the second unit to be a reliable shooter, which Joseph hasn't been so far.

However, Joseph has shown he can take care of the ball, shoot the mid-range at a decent clip and defend well. He's also just 23 years old and has increased his field goal and 3-point percentage every year, so not all hope is lost for a shooting turnaround.

If you have enough offense coming from the rest of your lineup and need a solid serviceable point guard that can keep the offense moving, Cory Joseph is a solid option that may be available at a cheap price. Among his stats that have increased in 2K15, could his dunking ability be the biggest one? Perhaps the 2K team started thinking of Joseph differently after this:
