NBA virtual 1-on-1 Tournament: Paul George vs Jamal Crawford

Can Paul George's defense slow down Jamal Crawford's heat-check ability?

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

The next matchup in the 1-on-1 Summer Showdown is between an elite defender in Paul George, and one of the NBA's most dangerous heat-check players in Jamal Crawford.

The Rules

It is a half-court game in which the scoring increments are 1 point for everything inside the arc, and 2 points for everything outside the arc. So long-distance bombers will do well in our tourney.  The higher seed stars off with the ball and the first player to 11 points wins. The possession switches every time the ball is scored, and your votes determine the winner.

Paul George (2nd Seed)

(To preface this match-up, I would like to say that Paul George will be imagined without the leg injury due to the fact that this tournament was determined before the injury happened. You should not sway your vote because of this injury.)

Paul George had a lot of support in the seeding stage of this tournament, and it isn't a surprise why. He can hit 3-point shots, and he can defend anyone. He has excellent size and strength, but he doesn't have a great game with his back to the basket. That could be a huge hit to his size advantage over smaller players.

He shouldn't have a problem getting his points against Crawford, and he will match up with him well on the defensive end too. He is a heavy favorite in this game, and his skill-set is the reason.

Jamal Crawford (7th Seed)

Crawford is one of the most dangerous heat-check guys in the NBA. He can make shots from all around the court. If he gets hot, he becomes impossible to stop, and in this format that is extremely deadly. His biggest downfall is obviously his lack of defensive skill.

This is an odd assumption to make, but I feel like Crawford has the ability to turn it up defensively if he wans to bad enough. He has excellent size and veteran savvy, so it is easy to make a case that he can stop a streaky shooter in Paul George.

Now It's Your Turn
