The next matchup in the second round of the NBA Summer Showdown is between two players who thrive on jump shots from all over the floor.
The Rules
It is a half-court game in which the scoring increments are 1 point for everything inside the arc and 2 points for everything outside the arc, so long-distance bombers will do well in our tourney. The higher seed starts off with the ball and the first player to 11 points wins. The possession switches every time the ball is scored, and your votes determine the winner.
Kevin Durant (1st Seed)
The last matchup for Kevin Durant was such a no-brainer for him that I didn't notice I hadn't put up a poll until it was pointed out to me. Nevertheless, Durant whipped Jabari Parker in the first round, and it is no surprise that even with a poll that was added late he won the game handily.
In the second round he faces another player that complements his strengths. Durant is the best offensive player for this format, and he is facing a player that plays a very similar game to his. Johnson has never been a good defensive player. Durant will have his way on offense, which is really all he needs to dominate this game.
Joe Johnson (5th Seed)
Joe Johnson faced a player in the first round that plays a much different game than Kevin Durant. Blake Griffin didn't have the all-around game that could slow down Johnson and score at a high enough rate. Durant has the ability to outscore Johnson, and he is solid enough on defense not to let Johnson completely overpower him.
Johnson will get his points in this game. He is a very consistent jump-shooter from all over the floor. Durant's defense is not good enough to keep it from being a high-scoring affair. This one may be quite interesting despite Durant being a heavy favorite.
Now It's Your Turn
This is where you decide the outcome. Vote on the poll below and make sure to let your opinion be known in the comments of this article.
