The next matchup in the second round of the NBA Summer Showdown is between Paul George and Klay Thompson.
The Rules
It is a half-court game in which the scoring increments are 1 point for everything inside the arc and 2 points for everything outside the arc, o long-distance bombers will do well in our tourney. The higher seed starts off with the ball and the first player to 11 points wins. The possession switches every time the ball is scored, and your votes determine the winner.
Paul George (2nd Seed)
Note: The tournament started before George's injury occurred. The injury should not be taken into consideration when voting.
PG had a tough first round matchup going up against Jamal Crawford, who gave him a run for his money. He managed to squeak it out, but the competition takes a huge jump this week.
Thompson is going to be very difficult to stop, but if there is one guy who can slow him down, George can do it. George is fantastic at defending the perimeter, and he has the size and strength to disrupt any inside attempts. While Thompson will be impossible to shut down completely, George may be able to seriously disrupt his rhythm.
Klay Thompson (6th Seed)
Klay Thompson faced off against an opponent last week that may have been a tougher matchup than Paul George and blew him out.
Thompson proved to be a serious threat when he beat Russell Westbrook handily. In my opinion, Westbrook was more of an offensive problem than George. Westbrook is much faster and is on the same level of shooting as George. Where it changes is on the defensive end.
Thompson would be able to shoot right over Westbrook, but he won't have a height advantage. He is going to have a harder time scoring. This should be very interesting.
