The first matchup in the second round of the NBA Summer Showdown is between the early tournament favorite, and a Spurs' favorite. This could get ugly.
It is a half-court game in which the scoring increments are 1 point for everything inside the arc and 2 points for everything outside the arc, so long-distance bombers will do well in our tourney. The higher seed starts off with the ball and the first player to 11 points wins. The possession switches every time the ball is scored, and your votes determine the winner.
LeBron James (1st Seed)
It was made clear by many readers that this tournament will ultimately end up being a final between LeBron and KD. If there was a week that would make this untrue, this would be the week.
LeBron heads into this game after facing off against Michael Carter-Williams. The game began with an early MCW run that surprised everyone. As the game progressed, LeBron started to pull away and ended up beating MCW by a considerable amount.
This week is going to be an interesting matchup for James. He faces a player that I feel will be able to score on him. Parker is very crafty and fast, and it will be difficult to get stop after stop. On the other end, scoring shouldn't be too much of a problem. He has size and strength to back down and dominate Parker.
Tony Parker (4th Seed)
There is home-court advantage in this tournament, and Tony Parker has it.
This community is going to make a huge push for Parker, especially against LeBron. Parker will have that in his favor, and we all know how great Parker can be when he has the crowd behind him.
Parker has a chance to keep up with LeBron scoring-wise. He is an insane finisher, and he has a complete game that will make LeBron work hard on defense. He really stands no chance on defense. LeBron will not have a problem scoring. This one is a great game to kick off round two.
