NBA virtual 1-on-1 Tournament: Kobe Bryant vs Kevin Love

The next matchup in the 1-on-1 Summer Showdown is between two scoring-oriented players, but one of them already is an NBA Legend while the other has the potential to be one.

The Rules

It is a half-court game in which the scoring increments are 1 point for everything inside the arc and 2 points for everything outside the arc, so long-distance bombers will do well in our tourney.  The higher seed starts off with the ball and the first player to 11 points wins. The possession switches every time the ball is scored, and your votes determine the winner.

Kobe Bryant (4th Seed)

I am 100% positive that Kobe Bryant would absolutely dominate this tournament if he wasn't coming off two major surgeries and if he hadn't played 1,245 NBA games in his career.

This format is hand-crafted for a player like Kobe. He prides himself on making himself look better, and there is no better way than beating all the other NBA players. He can score like a madman, in his prime he could defend at a very high level and he just refuses to lose. He is a very smart player, so exposing weaknesses in his opponent will be easy.

His biggest downfalls are his age and defense. Kobe's defensive abilities aren't what they used to be, and there isn't a lot you can do when players are just faster than you.

Kevin Love (5th Seed)

Love makes the first round for Mr. Bryant very interesting.

Kevin Love is an excellent scorer and excellent rebounder. His per-game stats are out of this world in those two categories. What he lacks is winning ability and defense. Love will not be able to defend Kobe, and he may not be able to match the intensity of Kobe. Either way, this game is going to be insanely fun.
