NBA virtual 1-on-1 Tournament: Damian Lillard vs Lance Stephenson

There have been plenty of great matchups but this one may take the cake.

Steve Dykes

The next matchup in the 1-on-1 Summer Showdown is between a cold-blooded killer and natural-born baller.

The Rules

It is a half court game in which the scoring increments are 1 point for everything inside the arc, and 2 points for everything outside the arc. So long-distance bombers will do well in our tourney.  The higher seed stars off with the ball and the first player to 11 points wins. The possession switches every time the ball is scored, and your votes determine the winner.

Damian Lillard (3rd Seed)

This tournament has featured some pretty awesome theoretical matchups, but Lillard taking on Stephenson may be one of my favorites. Lillard is a clean-cut killer. Every time he gets the ball, he is dangerous. He can hit the long ball as well as drive the hoop. His ridiculous range and confidence is intimidating for anyone.

He lacks great defensive prowess, but Lance is a player who can miss multiple jump shots and get cold. He is also not a great three-point shooter, so it is likely that Lillard will have wiggle room to allow for his below-average defense.

Lance Stephenson (6th Seed)

If you want to talk about a guy who has supreme confidence, it is Lance. The 8th Grader fears nobody, and he does everything in his power to get in the other player's head. His peskiness could be a problem for a younger player like Lillard.

When you get down to actual basketball, he is a well-rounded player. He can do a little bit of everything, hence why he led the league in triple-doubles last season. His biggest weakness would be his range. Knowing how important the long-distance shots are, that could cause a serious issue for Lance advancing in this tournament.

Now It's Your Turn

This is where you decide the outcome. Vote on the poll below and make sure to let your opinion be known in the comments of this article.
