Its week 23 of the Fantasy Basketball season and things are starting to heat up. In one week playoff formats your heading into the semi-final round and in two week formats if you were lucky enough to advance you're in the final round.
Must Reads
23 NBA teams this week have four games and that means there is a plethora of choices available for Fantasy owners and that's a good thing.
This morning I woke up to questions about what to do about injured C Dwight Howard and PF/C Anthony Davis.
If you play in an ESPN league there isn't much you can do about Anthony Davis. He's listed as day-to-day but it doesn't matter because he's on the Undroppables list meaning you are stuck with him. That's a real pity and a big disaster for sure. If you are in a league that requires you to set your lineup at the beginning of the week I would put him in because you never know. If you are setting lineups daily I would wait until as long as possible as he will be a game-time decision.
Howard is another kettle of fish altogether. He will miss at least 5 of the 8 games remaining on the Fantasy schedule and that's where you have decide if it's worth the gamble of keeping him or cutting him lose and going for the championship. If it were me I would cut him loose and pick up his replacement Omer Asik and go from there (stats).
Here a few more options if Asik isn't your cup of tea.
Georgui Dieng PF C Minnesota: Nikola Pekovic has returned but Deng is still getting quality minutes and making the most of them. The T-Wolves also have four games this week so as long as he gets minutes he should make owners happy campers. (Stats)
Samuel Dalembert C Dallas: Dalembert may only be averaging 20 minutes per game but he makes the most of them and with four games this week he should be a good source for points, rebounds and blocks. (Stats)
Jordan Hill PF C Lakers: I've liked Hill all season and with four games this week I like him even more. He should be a good source for rebounds and the occasional big scoring night. (Stats)
I also have some Spurs recommendations for daily Fantasy players.
Monday: The Spurs travel to Indiana to take on the Pacers and Kawhi Leonard might wind up having a big game against the Pacers. You can probably get him in a salary cap league for about $10,000 which will be good value.
Wednesday: The Spurs host Golden State and I like Patty Mills and Boris Diaw in this one as both should see some quality minutes and you can probably get them for less than $9,000.
Thursday: This one is a tough one as the Spurs travel to Oklahoma to take on the Thunder. I get the feeling Coach Gregg Popovich is going to rest some players and we won't know that until game time. Austin Daye or even Corey Joseph might be good pickups for less than $6,000.
Sunday: The Spurs host the Grizzlies and the Grizzlies backcourt hasn't been the same defensively this season. I like Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili in this one no matter what the price.
