Dear Manu,
It happens.
Men have fought valiantly against it since the beginning of time, but it's a fool's errand. The ravages of time will win no matter how hard you fight against it. It's a difficult decision to be sure because it's been a part of your life for as long as you can remember. Greater men than me can relate. Your feeling of loss is understandable, but know that we will be here for you.
Julius Caesar faced the demon and lost.
Dwight Eisenhower faced the demon and lost.
Kareem Abdul Jabaar faced the demon and lost.
Richard Simmons faced the demon and lost.
Even Matt Lauer faced the demon.
He lost.
Must Reads
I'm talking of course about the eternal battle pitting man against his own hair, and the sadness we all feel as the demon wins again.
Let's take Matt Lauer as an example. Years ago he could see the demon coming and he took proactive measures to slow his ultimate defeat. As if overnight he went from long flowing locks, to a standard Army issue high & tight. America was abuzz with his choice. "He's so brave!" "Wow, Matt Lauer is starting a new hair style phenomenon with his bur."
Matt Lauer was too clever by half. It took years for people to catch on. Matt Lauer wasn't starting a new hair trend, he was getting out in front of the demon. It's obvious now, but looking back he should've just gone full monty. If it's going anyway, shave it all.
It took Kareem years to get to the point. He let his demon almost completely take him before he started the full head shave.
Julius Caesar wore a crown of oak leaves to cover his demon. He was the omnipresent ruler of Rome, but the demon would've defeated him too, if the multiple stab wounds to the midsection didn't take him down before he lost it all.
And just look at Richard Simmons. You don't ever want to get to that point.
So my advice to you is to give in to the demon. Give in before its too late. Shave it all, Manu. Just shave it.
But if you don't want to shave it, give me a call. Maybe we can work out an endorsement deal.
