Memphis Grizzlies expert sees Spurs role reversal

Are the Grizzlies this year's Spurs? Could Marc Gasol be a Spur next year? How likely are Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili to retire. All this and more in the latest edition of Fraternizing with the Enemy.

Once upon a time, the Spurs had a tough time beating the Grizzlies. It got to the point that Memphis was accused of tanking to get the 8th seed, just so that they could match up with the first seed Spurs in the opening round of the 2011 playoffs. Bad things ensued for the favorites that year. But ever since then, things have gone the way of the team in Silver and Black.

Once upon a time, Kevin Lipe managed an SBNation blog covering the Grizzlies. But he received an offer from the Memphis Flyer, and ever since he's been covering the Memphis basketball beat for the weekly alternative newspaper. I decided that I wouldn't let that stop me from having a conversation with one of my favorite people to talk hoops with.

Not only was Kevin kind enough to start off the conversation, but he even humored me to the point of discussing the chances that Marc Gasol would wind up in San Antonio next year. We also discussed the potential impending retirements of Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili, and how the Griz and Spurs are different from last year's incarnations, and how the teams are shaping up this year.

As always, the conversation is below, hosted by ReplyAll, but with an extra this time. At the bottom of the conversation, there's a special subscribe button that will allow you to enter your email address to be notified when a new addition is made to the conversation. Enjoy.
