GIF Breakdown: Spurs at Sixers

Gregg Popovich called Kawhi Leonard "The Big One" and the young Spur had himself a fine night against the Sixers. Let's check him out.

Kawhi matched his career high with 26 points and he also grabbed 10 boards, dished four assists and threw in a couple of steals for good measure. A great all around night for Whi. This edition will feature Mr. Leonard.

The post play has become extremely solid for Kawhi as he's strong and patient. He's a tough assignment for most threes in the game. That turnaround jumper, though, that's just devastating.

Michael Carter Williams just doesn't have the build to stop Leonard so it's just a couple seconds before Kawhi has backed MCW into the paint. A hop-step and finger roll give the Spurs two more points.

Here's Whi turning a turnover into a bucket the other way. Danny Green gets his hand on a K.J. McDaniels drive and Cory Joseph makes the nice pass ahead to Leonard for the flush.

fast break

This was a big play. The Spurs were up just five with less than a minute to play and they went to Kawhi in an iso versus Hollis Thompson. Leonard drives baseline and muscles the ball through the hoop  for the hoop and the harm. The made free throw put the Spurs back up a comfortable eight.

Leonard also did a little distributing in the game. Here are a couple of his assists and hey're both to Aron Baynes (who had a fine game of his own.) The first is a nice pocket pass as KL works his way across the lane and leads to a pretty reverse from Baynes and the second is a simple drive and kick to Aron for the midrange j.

Let's finish with a fairly common sighting in Kawhi stealing the ball and taking it the other way. He doesn't score here, but the dangerous in open space Leonard drew a foul on his way to the basket.

That's it for this edition of GIF Breakdown.
