The Spurs held their annual charity dinner and auction on Saturday, January 11, at the AT&T Center. The theme was Spurs Night Live:
The floor of the AT&T Center was transformed into a giant ballroom, with silver chairs at tables covered in black:
The party favor for each attendee was a beautiful hand-blown Spurs glass:
Michelle Beadle and Sean Elliott served as MCs for the program of videotaped skits starring many of the Spurs players ala Saturday Night Live. I wouldn't bet on any of these showing up on YouTube anytime soon.
Patty Mills and Danny Green danced and bobbed their heads to "Baby Don't Hurt Me":
Bloopers from the shooting of the HEB commercials were a big hit, with the HEB Mootopia commercial featuring the most blown lines. The funniest and strangest, however, starred the three Frenchmen in a Coneheads skit:
The rubber cone heads were autographed and found their way to the silent auction (I'm not sure they got any bids):
Matt Bonner's game-worn New Balance shoes were in the auction:
But when I approached Bonner to photograph his "dress" New Balance shoes for the occasion, I received a huge shock: He was wearing ADIDAS!
The camo jerseys were auctioned, with beginning bids on each one of $175.
These really nice custom Lucchese boots had a minimum bid of $500:
The live auction featured a trip for four to anywhere in the continental US on the Holt's private jet (sold for $35,000), first class airfare for two to San Francisco, New York, and a city of choice in Europe ($30,000), an appearance in one of the HEB ads for next year ($20,000), and customization of your auto by Tim's Black Jack shop ($24,000). Those auction prices paled when stacked up against the whopping $150,000 paid for this 68" x 54" painting of the Big Three. Bidding opened at "only" $15,000, and stalled at $26,000 before a very adept auctioneer coaxed the cash out of the big spenders.

Other auction items included memorabilia from other athletes:
Various autographed Spurs photos were auctioned, including a series of three that I did for them of Manu, Tony, and Tim. The total received for the three was around $1,000, I'm proud to say. Here's the one for Manu:
It was a fun evening - good food, open bar, chances for photos with the guys, and a good band to finish off the evening.
