I could not be more excited to tell you guys about a first for this website. Earlier this off-season, I was approached by the guys in charge of Spurs ticket sales, asking if I was interested in partnering with them to offer you £ers special deal on "experiences" at the AT&T Center on game nights.
As soon as my vocal chords were finally able to form words, I sputtered something approximating "Absolutely!" -- completely unable to keep my cool. The issue is that I couldn't decide which of their offers to go with. Should we do the one where we all get into the arena well before the game begins, and watch the team warm up from seats at court level -- like the ones the above picture was taken from -- or would it be better to hang out after the game and go down onto the court to shoot a free throw?
Well, it turns out that they're not going to make us choose. Any and all Pounding the Rock readers will be able to buy a ticket at below face value, and do both. Now I feel like an infomercial guy setting up the, "Now how much would you pay?" But I'm so excited about this I don't even care.
The details are below, but suffice to say that I've never been able to take a shot from the court before and I can't wait for the chance. As far as getting into the T early and watching the Spurs and Grizzlies go through their warmups, if you've ever read a Morning Rehash, you'll know it's one of the best parts of covering the game, because it's never televised, and you can pick up on all kinds of cool stuff that most people never get to see.
So, check out the details below, and make plans to meet up for a great opening night of the Spurs 2013-2014 season.
