QuickCap: Spurs survive Nuggets, 100-99

Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

J. Gomez (Edg5):

In one of the most entertaining games of the season, the Spurs prevailed on a nail-biter, beating the Nuggets 100-99. The game had a clear playoff atmosphere, with the Spurs looking to solidify their claim to the top spot in the West in the first of a series of challenging games to come against a Nuggets team looking to start another winning streak.

Danny Green had a fantastic first half hitting six three pointers, keeping the Spurs in it after a good start by the Nuggets. Tony Parker and Tim Duncan had big games as well for the Spurs. With this win, the good guys move to 54-17 in the West. Andre Miller was a thorn in the Spurs’ side, as always, and JaVale McGee’s athleticism was too much for the Spurs’ earthbound frontcourt. But the Spurs executed well at the end of the game and came up with a valuable win.

Matt Tynan will have a recap up shortly.
