DeJuan Blair rumored to be on the trading block for scraps

Anthony Gruppuso-USA TODAY Sports

San Antonio Spurs center and miracle to modern medicine, DeJuan Blair is back on the chopping block. Don't get your hopes up too much, though. Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld reports that the Spurs were previously interested in a swap with the Miami Heat last year for a 2nd round pick. Now that's fallen through and the Boston Celtics and Portland Trail Blazers are reportedly interested in Blair. My impression is the Spurs are aware of how low Blair's value is, know he won't resign in the summer, and want to get what they can from him. The best results would be a trade for a low value service man like Fab Melo or Jared Sullinger (from Boston), or Nolan Smith or Ronnie Price (from Portland). The worst case scenario is to hold onto Blair until the summer and lose him in the free agency market. The Spurs have until Thursday at 3 PM EST to make a decision.
