Phil's Fantasy Basketball Monday: Danny Green is hot, and more from around the league

Guest columnist Phil Naessens of the Phil Naessens Show brings us his weekly Fantasy Basketball Column and much more

Kevin C. Cox

Sleepers for the week ending November 17, 2013

Alec Burks: Burks is averaging 28 minutes per game backing up John Lukas III and he's made hay while the sun has shined. He'll kill you on the shooting percentage statistics but will more than make up for that in scoring (14.2 ppg), rebounds (3.5) steals (1.8 spg) assists (2.3 apg) he could be what you need if one of your late SG picks is struggling or even injured. Utah has four games this week (Denver, New Orleans, San Antonio and Golden State) so Burks should see plenty of minutes this week. He's currently owned in 33% of Yahoo leagues and 47% in ESPN Leagues so maybe Burks is what you need to make a difference on your roster this week (stats)

Brandon Bass: Bass can score when he gets enough minutes and if you are looking to add a PF to your roster this week than Bass might be your guy. He's averaging 32 minutes a game and shooting 90% from the line and 48% from the floor. He'll even get you a block (1.3 bpg) and an assist or two (1.8 apg) to go along with his 5.3 rebounds he'll get you night in and night out, as long as he plays that is. Boston has four games this week (Orlando, Portland, Charlotte, Minnesota) so Bass might be your PF option this week. Bass is currently owned in 48% of Yahoo leagues and 48% in ESPN leagues so there is time to grab him for your match this week Fantasy Owners. (stats)

Andrea Bargnani: Bargnani got off to a slow start this season and many Fantasy Owners dropped him (including me). With Tyson Chandler out for the next six weeks Bargnani is going to be relied upon to play the five and also provide some scoring. The Knicks play Atlanta twice and Houston only once this week but both teams have given up plenty of three's this season (Atlanta 10.1 pg, Houston 9.8 pg) and Bargnani shoots at least six of those per game, and makes about 33% of them. He'll also get you the occasional rebound and assist and maybe even a couple of blocks per game. He's currently owned in 56% of Yahoo leagues and in 27% of ESPN leagues so if you need three's this week Andrea just might be your man. (stats)

Spurs Fantasy Sleeper of the Week

With the way Greg Popovich coaches, Spurs aren't very good fantasy options in most 10-12 team leagues. This week is even more difficult as the Spurs only play three games (Philadelphia, Washington, Utah) but Philadelphia is dead last in the league in three pointers allowed so picking Danny Green up just for Monday might be an option. Washington and Utah defend better against the three but it might be worth taking a chance on Green for the entire week as it looks like he's currently entering a hot streak, if Sunday's performance against the Knicks is any indication. Currently Green is owned in 71% of Yahoo Leagues and 77% of ESPN Leagues so there is still opportunity to grab him. (stats)

Today's Phil Naessens Show is just loaded with Fantasy Basketball info. Amar from SLC Dunk joins me to discuss the Utah Jazz, Kyle McKoewn from Rotowire joins me to give us a complete injury rundown and answers several listeners questions and Tom Lewis from Indy Cornrows talks Indiana Pacers hoops....its a great show.

PtR Fantasy League

Week 2 of the Pounding the Rock Fantasy Basketball League has finished and while not all the matches were very close their were some excellent matches. Standings and statistics after week two are here.

And that's it, fellow Pounders.

I hope you enjoyed our weekly Fantasy Basketball chat. I've decided to do this post first thing every week, because our fantasy league's matchups begin on Monday.

Thanks for taking time to read and as always, I look forward to your input!
