France Defeats Brazil, 73-58

Ha!

I'll bet you didn't even know they were playing.

Well... You're forgiven, since this was over in the women's tournament.

It was an important game, since both teams have ambitions. Both these women's teams, France and Brazil, may actually be better, relatively, than their male counterparts.

France got off to a rocky start, with a ton of turnovers. The team's best player, interior Sandrine Gruda, never did get going (6 pts).

But playmaker and team captain Céline Dumerc stepped up with a huge game: 23 points, 5 assists, and 4 interceptions. France's deep bench (30 points) gradually wore the Brazilians down, and Les Bleues had a comfortable opening game victory to start their tournament.
