QuickCap: Sterned Spurs beat Grizzlies, 99-95

Spurs back at home finally. It's been a while, has it not? Spurs in their silver uniforms to start this 3 game home stand. Kawhi Leonard and Stephen Jackson still out with their injuries and will likely not be making an appearance during this home stand. Coach Pop, deservedly, got the loudest cheer during the intros. Early on, Spurs are 6-0 on second chance points. Tim Duncan SLAM DUNKS over Marc Gasol and shows emotion after!! Very "un-Tim Duncan-like". Midway through the quarter Pop brings out his "megatron" lineup of Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, Boris Diaw, Tim Duncan, and Tiago Splitter. Spurs not making their shots down the stretch allows the Grizzlies to come back.

Spurs go without a field goal for about 6 minutes -- stopped by Tim Duncan. The second quarter continues where the first left off, with the big 3 the only scorers in double digits.

The first 3 pointer of the game -- for both teams -- was made by Gary Neal on the opening possession. Only to be answered on the other end by Memphis' first made 3 of the game. The Spurs cannot buy a shot. They can't even make layups. Pop goes to the bench late in the 3rd with Patty Mills, Nando de Colo, Matt Bonner, Manu Ginobili, and Tiago Splitter.

And then, like a light coming over the horizon, Patty Mills brings a quick 4 points for the Spurs which opens up a huge run bringing the Spurs within 4 with 5:45 left in the game. Manu ties the game with a 3 in the corner. Rudy Gay misses a 3, less than a minute remaining. Manu misses a layup, Memphis rebounds with 7 seconds left. Memphis misses and we go to OT.

Spurs finally able to convert on the offensive end and make a few stops. That's essentially all it takes in overtime. Mike Conley makes a 3 and brings the Grizzlies within 2 with less than a minute to go. On the other end, Manu dribbles it down to 7 seconds, passes to Bonner who dribble-drives, almost loses it to Neal who misses. Bayless passes up court intended for Rudy Gay but it sails off his fingertips and out of bounds. Spurs have to use 2 timeouts to get the ball inbounds and the Memphis Grizzlies foul Tony Parker who makes 2/2. Grizzlies couldn't get a shot off, and the Spurs win.
