QuickCap: Spurs fall to Clippers, 92-87

Soobum Im-US PRESSWIRE

Spurs started out this game running at a high clip (28 points in the 1st). Stephen Jackson injured his finger (report here) early in the 1st and was announced he would be out 4-6 weeks in the 2nd quarter. The Spurs offense fell apart in the 2nd quarter and going into the half, they trailed 47-42.

The story of the game was in the 3rd quarter when the referees lost control of the game. They called phantom calls on Manu Ginobili and even reviewed one that took a good 5 real minutes to figure out. A cascade of expletives flew from the crowd with each passing minute. The Spurs offensive game would continue to struggle through the quarter.

The 4th quarter was a little better on both ends for the Spurs. Matt Bonner would be a savior of sorts, scoring 10 in the quarter.
