Stephen Jackson to miss 4 to 6 weeks with non-displaced fracture

Stephen Jackson injured his right pinky finger early in the 1st quarter in the game tonight versus the Los Angeles Clippers. He continued to play for a few minutes before taking himself out.

Already without Kawhi Leonard for roughly another ten days, the Spurs have lost Stephen Jackson for up to a month and a half with a non-displaced fracture. The injury happened during a scramble along the sideline in which Jack was able to knock the ball off the Clippers out of bounds. He went to the bench in obvious pain but returned after a timeout and treatment from trainer Will Sevening.

Well, this will be fun. The Spurs basically have no imminent options at the small forward position, and it seems likely they'll have to search elsewhere outside the bench for a temporary replacement. It's possible they move Danny Green to the small forward at times, but Green isn't ideal for that. This greatly diminishes the size on the perimeter for the Spurs and might have its greatest impact on the defensive side of the ball. One available possibility is Derrick Brown, a 6-foot-8 forward who spent nearly the entire training camp in San Antonio competing for a job. Mickael Pietrus is also a free agent, but his price tag might be too high for the Spurs. San Antonio left its 15th and final roster spot open, so there will be no need to drop anyone if they decide to make a move.
