Preseason is a good chance to practice with a variety of rotations that are risky when the games matter. The word practice there must not be overlooked. This is the time for the role players to show what they are capable of, and for the guaranteed rotation players to warm up. This is on the back of a close preseason game against the Miami Heat, so odds are the starting five are not going to get many minutes. This leaves a lot of playing time for bench and "fringe" players. A fringe player is anyone who is fighting to stay on the team. One such player is Wesley "where did he come from" Witherspoon. If he continues the trend of being awesome in the preseason will PATFO find some room for him on the bench? Most signs indicate a resounding no, but maybe just maybe… Look for other players like Derrick Brown to get more minutes tonight. He logged zero against Miami. One more thing, will we see another lineup with Curry and Diaw? That was interesting.

On to the Magic. This once great team seems ready to assume the role as a glorified punching bag. Tank commander Jacque Vaughn knows his purpose, and seems to be totally cool with a no win season this year. The Spurs could throw out a rotation of Tiago Splitter and the training staff and make this game competitive. The Magic recently played a game in Mexico City, which is cool. What is not cool is that they lost to the New Orleans Hornets by five points in a game where Brian Roberts was the leading scorer. That being said Orlando is a professional basketball team and this is preseason so they could theoretically win. For this to happen JJ Reddick would have to go like 35 of 35 from the 3 point line. Also Andrew Nicholson and Glen Davis would absolutely have to go off. But no sane coach would give those three enough minutes in a preseason game to accomplish this.

In other news: Glen Davis has a new single out called "Big Baby Gon To Turn it Up".That link is there for reference purposes only, because obviously that song is already in your music library. Odds are it is the only song in your library. And I get it. Why would you need to listen to anything else? This is a bold sonic experiment that is bound to take hip hop in an unprecedented direction. Apparently the song uses a brand new technique called "auto tune". This is pioneering stuff. Expect to hear more artists use "auto tune" in the future. As if changing the course of musical history was not enough, Mr. Davis demonstrates a lyrical genius that is comparable to Geoffrey Chaucer. An example is the line "I'm going turn it up, got goose and grey in my cup." Clearly putting a live goose in a cup is a metaphor for attempting to do the impossible. So the goose in this case is taking Orlando to the playoffs. "We can put the goose in the cup" would be an excellent team motto for Orlando this year. Mr. Davis later goes on to admit that he is "kinda famous". This is the type of brutal honesty that is lacking in today's music.

Final Analysis: Preseason is the basketball equivalent of sparring. So what should be a one sided affair might be a close game. However Orlando needs to perfect their tanking skills if they are going to be in "good" shape for the looming season opener. Odds are the Spurs are going to blow this one open early and then allow players like the aforementioned Witherspoon to keep the foot on the gas.

Game Prediction: Spurs by 30

As always Tony must dominate Fisher, and NBA league pass is recommended for those who are willing to pony up the cash. Almost every Spurs game will be broadcast there, which is especially helpful for those of us who aren't in the San Antonio area. Please don't post links to illegal game feeds in the game thread. Links to illegal feeds are not permitted on SBNation, but you can probably find them out there on the internets if you're resourceful and desperate.
