Preseason Game Thread #1: San Antonio Spurs @ Houston Rockets

You read that right, folks - the Spurs have a game tonight. After another summer that was far too long, we finally get to witness the return of Spurs basketball. Provided of course, that you live in the Houston area, where it will actually be on TV.

At this time, I'd like to thank PtR's loyal, awesome readers for sticking with us during the summer. And for those of you who are less awesome and loyal, that are just checking back in with us now that there's a game, screw you welcome back.

Preview beyond the jump.

Please forgive the rust, we haven't done one of these in a while.

Preseason Game #1

San Antonio Spurs at Houston Rockets

Where: Toyota Center - Houston, TX

When: 7:30 PM Spurs time

Watch: FSN Houston

Likely Starters

Spurs

(0-0)
Position
Rockets
(0-0)
Tony Parker PG Aaron Brooks
George Hill SG Kevin Martin
Richard Jefferson SF Shane Battier
DeJuan Blair PF Luis Scola
Tim Duncan C Yao Ming

Officials

---- ---- ----

Just FYI, these lineups are my best guesses. RJ might be kept out(replaced by James Anderson?) as a precaution, and Tiago is definitely out. Meanwhile, Brad Miller is rehabbing from an ankle injury for the Rockets, so he's probably out. Yao(surprisingly enough) played in Houston's first preseason game against Orlando, so we can probably count on him playing limited minutes.

Key to the Game

Post scoring - Scola and Yao vs. Timmy and Beast. This should be fun to watch, if it happens.

Three-point shooting - This is our first chance to see just how good our shooters are. Anderson was voted most likely to lead the team in three-point shooting this year, so let's hope he can get off to a good start.

Final Note

Please don't post any illegal feed links here. WOAI radio is here if you want to listen to the game. Since it's an away game, that should work. If that's not working, or if you're looking for a video feed in your area, email us at poundingtherockmail@yahoo.com (please include your PtR username in the email).
