I think it's time we learnt some of this
Yesterday there was a party in my honor at my soon-to-be ex-office, and I thought it was my duty as the man of the minute - and in true PTR fashion- to drink as much as possible. The obvious outcome: a splitting headache while I write this half-assed preview. It's for the better, anyway: what we need right now, as blog, as a community, as a team, is peace.
For some pre-preview reading material, as always I recommend 48 Minutes of Hell, where Tim Varner says that TP is better than the usual stats say. I personally don't trust stats but hey, if it involves mocking Nazr, I'm in.
So grab each other's hands and let us go together through this dovish preview:

Breakdown - Point Guard - It's difficult to complain about Tony, considering he's been carrying the team on his back for a while now, but this is what he will have to deal with if he wants to be the star of this team when Manu and Timmy are gone. Those four consecutive misses from the FT line haunt me. That said, I expect him to score nearly at will tonight against the Warriors. Ellis can hurt us in a number of ways, so maybe that'll encourage Pop to give Hill more minutes.
- Off Guard - I don't even want to talk about Mason. He's not himself lately. Jackson, the lovely lunatic, can score and will probably put big numbers against us. The last time we played Golden State someone was able to offset them with 32 points off the bench... Who was that again?
- Center - Timmy's knees keep me awake at night. We need to rest him, seeding be damned. Hopefully he can avoid being blocked by Turiaf tonight... but don't get your hopes up.
- Power Forward - Kurt Thomas is the best Spur not named Tony right now. His defense and rebounding are better than I ever remember seeing from him in the Spurs. We are lucky to have him. Wright? I think he's a basketball player.
- Small Forward - I think it's time Pop started giving Bowen Finley's minutes. The impact of Bowen's defence last Sunday versus the Rockets was immediate, and obvious to even the basketball-illiterate like me.
- Bench - Out bench has been the reason we have been unable to maintain our leads when Tony and Tim sit. Matt has played poorly ever since we signed Gooden, Drew has shown flashes, but he's often lost on D, and Hill can't convince Pop to let him dribble to ball and distribute, so we're forced to see Mason turn the ball over once and again. The talent is there, but we're slumping at a bad time.
- Coach - I could argue with Pop about some of his decisions, but I ultimately trust him to do what's better for the team.
- Intangibles - We need this game. Desperately. I think the guys know it.
- Mojo - I won't talk about mojo right now. My mojo-meter is definitely off... If only SiMA were around to give him imput on this matter.
- Winners - ...Us? ...Please?
Keys To The Game - Turnovers - We've had some stupid turnovers in the recent losses. Tony losing the ball on the dribble, or palming it, Mason just dropping it in his defender's hands, Gooden trying passes through the entire opposing team... We're not a careless team with the ball, and we'd do well to remember that.
- Rebounds - Kurt Thomas is all over the offensive board lately - or maybe that's what it seems because he's the only one that gets us second chances lately. Regardless, we've been rebounding strongly lately, and that could be a difference-maker for us.
- Hill - Set him free.
Some other reading Warriors fans are a pleasant bunch, and they like to wear yellow: Golden State of Mind (The SB Nation blog. Quality writing, pretty active, and they all write their comments in the wrong box. Kill them.) Inside the Warriors (TWSS.) Fast Break (Good name for a Warriors blog. Couldn't find one called "Solid D".) Fear the Beard (We should've registered this domain when we first saw Pop during the off-season.) Other things of possible interest - Dayum - I wasted 4 hours on this already, and still can't figure out how to unlock the final key. But I'm getting there.
- Bad paintings - Of Barack Obama. Disclaimer: some are actually quite good.
- O'Reilly - Seduces you. (Too political? Nah...)
- This man - Is a real hero. But don't click if you don't like scatological story-telling.
- Red Mario - Still political, but hey, this is just too awesome not to watch.
- Space Cowboy - I'm simple-minded, and Dan Meth's stuff cracks me up.
