This Week in San Antonio Spurs Basketball: Monday Bat Attack

Another week, another TWSS post. Before we start, I want to bring to your attention a few changes we've made to the blog.

The more observant among you might've noticed the new additions to our "PTR Fun Pages" section on the left sidebar: there are now a quotes page and a page for our BLAAAAIIIR images. Both will be regularly updated, so any quotes suggestions or Blairy images pasted during the game threads will be more than welcome.

There's also the new and improved Blogroll, which was blatantly plagiarized from Third Quarter Collapse, and then modified according to our needs. If there are important sites we overlooked, please let us know.

And now, the links:

Here we'll provide information, links and summaries for all the games the Spurs played during the week, so that no one has to miss Pop sneering at a reporter.

For the fantasy enthusiasts out there.

MySA: Thanks to work on defense, Hairston sticking with Spurs
"With a roster filled with guaranteed contracts and a payroll already bulging well beyond the NBA's luxury tax threshold, there was only one way for a player with a non-guaranteed deal to secure a place on the Spurs' roster."

MySA: Spurs notebook: Popovich trims beard, lengthens practice time
"Spurs coach Gregg Popovich threw a couple of changes at his club Monday, starting practice at 4p.m. and showing up clean-shaven after sporting a full beard for more than a year."

MySA: The main Spurs are increasing
"The Spurs' first unit might not be the best in the division. The Spurs' second unit might be."

MySA: Pop tinkering with Spurs' chemistry
"The Spurs went into their first road game of the season Thursday with a plan that featured two-time MVP Tim Duncan in a more prominent scoring role than he had played in a season-opening victory."

MySA: Spurs strive for stability
"A new NBA season rekindles hopes that the San Antonio Spurs will make another championship run and that team officials have designed the right strategy to keep the Spurs financially sound in a still-shaky economy."

MySA: 10-year-old boy wows Spurs crowd on opening night
"As fans watched the San Antonio Spurs battle the New Orleans Hornets in Wednesday's season opening game, they also caught a glimpse of a dance battle on the AT&T Center court between a 10-year-old boy and the Spurs Coyote."

MySA: For Spurs, it's a two-man game
"Though the Spurs retooled often in the offseason, their hopes lie largely with the health status of veterans Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili."

Opening night excitement has no age limit for Spurs
"They may be veterans of nine and 14 previous NBA seasons, but Richard Jefferson and Antonio McDyess say tonight's first regular season game with the Spurs has them as nervous and excited as when they were NBA rookies."

Rec_mediumMySA: Spurs secure Hill for another season
Pop's reaction to extending Hill: "Yeah, that's a no-brainer," Popovich said. "If someone is your favorite player, you ought to extend him, whether he can play or not."

MySA: Spurs' Blair returns to scene of 'crime'
"It was in Chicago, at the NBA's predraft camp, that a physical examination of potential draftees revealed the absence of anterior cruciate ligaments in both of DeJuan Blair's knees."
