Game Thread #37: vs Lakers

It's our first look at the Lakers. If you have heard what Pop has to say about them, you know they are THE team in the West. I'd like to think that means this game will mean something to us. But I know better. I hope you guys know better too. Without further adieu, a rather boring game preview for just another regular season game.

Breakdown

  • Point Guard - Parker needs to just kill Fisher in the match up.
  • Off Guard - This would be a good game for Manu to find his mojo. Kobe had a bad shooting night last night against the Rockets and we don't seem to have anybody that can slow him down.
  • Center -I'm interested to see if Tim can get his game going against Bynum and Gasol. The Lakers don't like double-teaming Tim and both guys are long and tall.
  • Power Forward - I have no idea how Bonner will matchup defensively for the Lakers, but Gasol will have to stand out at the 3 point line to defend Bonner.
  • Small Forward - I'd like to see more Roger and less FinDog in this game. It's not like Radmanovic is a hard cover.
  • Bench - They are missing a lot from their bench. I think Farmar, Vujacic, and Walton are all out.
  • Coach - If it wasn't for the fact that Pop and Phil seem to hate each other so much, I'd think they'd go to dinner and let their assistants coach this game.
  • Mojo - We are a pretty lousy 14-7 at home, so we aren't scaring anybody at the big phone booth. The Lakers played last night. I'm going with the Lakers wanting to prove something more than we want to prove something. If our team wants to prove anything, they can start by proving to me that they want to beat the better teams in the league. I just don't think we really want to compete as a team yet.
  • Winner - We are kicking Desh's ass in this one.

Keys To The Game

  • Gasol and Bynum on the offensive glass - We are going to have to find a way to control our defensive boards.
  • Kobe - Do we have anybody that can make him work hard for his points?
  • Pressure Defense - Will we handle their pressure defense on the wings? The Lakers like to trap the side pick and roll.
