The Bucks come to town tonight and I'm excited to see Yi Jianlian play. There's been a lot of talk about him since well before the draft. Was he really 20? Would his skills translate beyond drills and into the NBA game? Would the Chinese government make it difficult to sign him?
Milwaukee took him with the sixth pick of the draft. There were immediate rumors he wouldn't sign, then word leaked that he would sign but only if he was guaranteed minutes. The prevailing prognostication seemed to be that a train wreck was imminent.
Though it's certainly still quite early in the season I think it's safe to say Yi will not be a bust. 11.6 PPG (in only 27.4 MPG) on 48% shooting, 5.6 RPG, 1.00 SPG, 1.8 BPG and a PER hovering around 16.
Congrats to PtR member Papa Smurf for having the best guess of the New Orleans game, 95 - 87.
