"We're trying to be tough" - Tim Duncan

Just a little something to keep us all entertained until Manu Ginobili is back on the court... which should be very, very soon.  (I kinda miss Brent Barry when I look at this, but the boys do a good job.)

Look!... it's our favorite Olympian

Imagen 1 - BEIJING - AUGUST 08: Manu Ginobili of the Argentina Olympic men... Getty Images

O.K., I know I probably should have placed this in the fanshots, but oh well.

I find the Women's outfits for Argentina to be very chic.  But is it just me or does

Manu Ginobili look like a 4th year Dentistry student?  Or a 1950's style milk man?

All he needs is the cap and the milk carrier.

Anyway, regardless of what Scrappy says, let's Go Argentina Basketball...

Bring home the Gold!  To Argentina and San Antonio!

Are you a xenophobe?

It seems that the PTR family is not the only group noticing a little xenophobia with the NBA and it's fans.

Alvaro Martin of ESPN Deportes wrote this excellent piece on the subject matter in Spanish.  Henry Abbott (True Hoop) with ESPN decided to include the English version on his web page.

I know people believe Manu is a flopper and early on in his career maybe he was.  However, nine times out of 10 he's taking a charge and usualy a hard charge.  Why should Manu or any other player be penalized because they make a smart play at the right time?  Also, isn't this manuever legal?  Don't you have referees on court to determine what is real and what is farce?

Although I think it's idiotic, I'd love to see the NBA try to impose a fine system to cut down on fake flops.  At the end of the day, Chris Paul would owe a ton of money to charity and Manu would be in the clear.

Lastly, if you don't think this is an issue just read the comments at the end of the article.  I tried, but it's too hateful to bear.

Here it is...  http://myespn.go.com/blogs/truehoop/0-32-320/Floppy-Logic.html

OMG, it was much worse than we thought

Reggie & Marv on the flight.... ugh.

From the Express - News:  Tom Orsborn: Marv & Reggie's bad decision

SANTA MONICA, Calif. - For those of you who haven't gotten enough of the Spurs' bizarre travel tale, here's one more. The announcing team of Marv Albert and Reggie Miller were on board. Witnesses said Gregg Popovich took great delight in tormenting the duo. "You guys thought you were going to fly in luxury. Real smart, guys," witnesses said was one of the kinder comments Popovich made to Albert and Miller.

Crazy like a fox

Hey, check it out... it appears that Mr. Woten's one of us!

And obviously, Duane Hoffman is Phoenix Whiner fan.  That is most definitely the ugliest caricature I've ever seen.  It's a shame that some people are just haters.

http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/24151741/

I especially love the very nice comment by PJ Carlesimo.

“He’s one of my favorite players I’ve ever been involved with on any level,” Carlesimo said. “He’s one of, if not the best, competitors I’ve ever coached or ever seen. He’s just a very, very special guy, one who doesn’t come along very much.”

I know everyone says Manu needed time to mature in Europe shortly after we drafted him in 1999.  However, sometimes I wonder if we'd have the same number of trophies if Gino had come to the Spurs before 2003.

Oh, well, we can dream.

Pop's a Democrat?

I spotted this little nugget in the Star-Telegram after the dallas game.  I'm surprised and pleased all at the same time.

"Poppin' off"

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich is always good for a one-liner. When asked about his team's five-point first quarter against the Hawks on Monday night, Popovich said: "I fired the scorekeeper. I figured we scored more and he just didn't put it up. Probably a Republican that hated me."

... and just like that, I think I'm in love with Pop all over again.

I am happy.  I am proud. - Manu Ginobili.

Light up your joints now

Is this for real?

http://blogs.mysanantonio.com/weblogs/courtside/archives/2008/01/mike_monroe_sto.html

I'm guessing Tony's going to sit on the bench until his heel heals.

I'm not sure exactly how I feel about this, but I think it may be a plus.

si article on great balls of fire

Hey guys,

There's a nice article on Manu on SI... check it out.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/steve_aschburner/12/06/manu.spurs/index.html

I wish Pop had been a little more effusive in his quote... he really needs to get over the Dirk foul.

I am happy.  I am proud.  - Manu Ginobili
