Game Thread #57 - @New Jersey

The first of 6 back-to-back's this month.

Tony looked like he had his game on last night.  Let's see what he can do with Devin Harris.  Also, let's see if Tim can rebound from the boogar he put up last night.

We don't have anybody on board for tonight's recap if anybody wants to volunteer.

I'll do the Bucks game unless somebody shows up with one this afternoon.

Re: Game Thread #57 - @New Jersey
7:30 PM SA - 8:30 PM ET - 11:30 PM ARG

   40-17 .............................................. 26-32

Streak:
     8 W .................................................. 1 W

Home record:
    24-5 ................................................ 15-16

Road record:
   16-12 ................................................ 11-16

Last 10:
     9-1 .................................................. 6-4

----------------------------------------------

(Sort of) Interesting facts:

► SA started the season 8-11 on the road. Since then it's 8-1.

► The Nets haven't played since last Thursday, when they beat the Bucks in New Jersey 120-106 with 21 points from Devin TP-fears-me Harris (recently traded from Dallas), 19 from Vince I-don't-feel-like-hustling-thankew Carter, and 19 from Jefferson.

► Of the last 10 at home, the Nets have won 6. The victories came against Milwaukee (twice), Dallas, Minnesota, Chicago and Indiana. The defeats came against Portland, New York, LA Lakers and Orlando.

► After this game, los Nets go on a tour through the Wide Wild West. The first stop is, actually, at San Antonio (Tuesday 7:30 PM SA).

► Next games for the Spurs:
   → @ New Jersey - Sunday 2/Mar - TODAY
   → Vs. New Jersey - Tuesday 4/Mar
   → Vs. Indiana - Thursday 6/Mar
   → @ Denver - Friday 7/Mar
   → @ Phoenix - Sunday 9/Mar

----------------------------------------------

Probable starting lineup:

T. Parker    M. Ginobili     B. Bowen     T. Duncan    F. Oberto
  P. Guard       S. Guard      S. Forward     P. Forward       Center
  18.6 PPG      20.7 PPG        5.6 PPG        19.8 PPG        5.0 PPG

No prob. LP game's links are easy to find. When they're nationally televised, though, it's a right pain in the arse.

Re: Game Thread #57 - @New Jersey
Well, that looks better as a response, since there's more room, but I can't edit it, and I messed up. It's at 5 PM SA, 6 PM ET, and 9 PM Arg.

Anyway, on a personal note...

Spurs 100
Nets 90

Hopefully I can actually watch this one. I hate bdays.

Re: Game Thread #57 - @New Jersey
I'll go out on a limb here...

Spurs:  99
Nets: 81

Tim bounces back with 22, 15, and 4; Manu burns for another 35; and Parker with the double-double, 16 and 10 assists.

Re: Game Thread #57 - @New Jersey
I like how Pop started the 2nd half with Tim, Tony, Bruce, Ime, and Horry.  It sort of forces Tim and Tony to do all the scoring, and then when Manu comes in with Fab, it forces them to play their 2 man game to get points.   Also, it allows Horry to get some more conditioning and hopefully masks his mistakes, I think.

I want to see Manu go back to the bench so he doesn't get overplayed before the playoffs.  It's time to let Tony pick up the slack.  Also, I want Manu to get the 6 Man Award for some reason.  A lot of people think it's lame but I think he should get every award that's possible even if its the 6 Man.  The ASG is another discussion.

Anyway...

I can't remember the last time I rooted for the Mavs.  This could be a first ever...

Still, if they pull this out (and the spurs don't screw around tonight), that'd be nice

Nets 87

Re: Game Thread #57 - @New Jersey
after looking at it for a few minutes, i think that i am going to like kurt thomas in the starting line-up instead of RoHo if pop is going to mix it up a bit in a back to back.

yup - our blockbuster trade is already paying dividends.  thomas looks OK on the floor and the blood-pressure of many fans is much lower.

Tony Parker seems to have healed up. What's up with Timmeh though?

Re: Game Thread #57 - @New Jersey
Timmeh will be fine, the most important thing is to stack the W's up, there is starting to be a bit of separation between the top and lower tier teams.
