Game Thread #57 - @ Milwaukee

The Spurs start March by heading off to Milwaukee after the big win over Dallas pushed the Spurs win streak to seven.

Nobody is on board for the write-up.  Any volunteers?

The Spurs need to take advantage of this relatively weak stretch of the schedule:  @Milwaukee, @New Jersey, New Jersey, Indiana.  After that it gets tough, really tough.  The next 11 include:  @Denver, @Phoenix, Denver, @New Orleans, @Detroit, Boston, @Dallas, @Orlando.

All in all, the Spurs play 18 games in March with 6 back-to-backs.  I'd be ecstatic if the Spurs manage to go 14-4.  I'm thinking 12-6 is more realistic.

We'll also welcome back Brent Barry on March 21 for a home game against Sacramento.

I say we also predict their March record to add to the points race (does that still happen, and if so any clue where anyone is?  I'm probably in last.)

Re: Game Thread #57 - @ Milwaukee
The Spurs haven't lost to a crappy Eastern team all year but they always play terrible in Milwaukee for whatever reason. Plus, after the Dallas win, they're due for an emotional let down as well.

Then again, Manu is due for a good shooting night, so who knows? I think for them to win Manu and Tony have to combine for 55+.

Re: Game Thread #57 - @ Milwaukee
Nope, we're a 1/2 game behind.  Yet, we're up by .001 winning percentage.  It's pretty awesome.  Check it out:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/standings?season=2008&group=conference&seasontype=2&standT ype=standings

Also, if we win, we'll be up.

Re: Game Thread #57 - @ Milwaukee
there is no such thing as a half game behind. it's something made up by newspapers so they rank teams and give readers some idea of the order.

if the spurs won two out of three games while the lakers remained idle (with a 70% winning percentage it's remotely possible), then they'd be tied.

Re: Game Thread #57 - @ Milwaukee
The secret to beating the Lakers? Inspirational speeches by Brandon Roy. This was on Fox Sports at MSN.com:

He told his teammates: "Let's make a push, you guys!" Portland responded with a 119-111 victory Friday night over the Los Angeles Lakers.

Yet another reason to hate Jason Terry:

"This game didn't mean much, we'll see them again," Dallas guard Jason Terry said. "We're still a work in progress."

I fucking HATE Jason Terry with an almost saintly purity.

Re: Game Thread #57 - @ Milwaukee
his words give him away completely. if they didn't take the game so seriously, they wouldn't have be crying about the officiating so much, getting technical fouls and whatnot.

he's not worthy of so much energy. he's a pawn to be toyed with, not a tyrant that is worthy of hatred.

Re: Game Thread #57 - @ Milwaukee
i actually agree with jason terry about the spurs win not being that big of a deal in terms of predicting the future, but he's also thinking it will get better from here for dallas.  i say it will get worse.

I just sense one of those games where everyone but Manu is kinda off, but we play decent defense and make it out alive. And why was that guy earlier bashing Frenchy? was that a joke? if so I didn't get it. If it was serious- Tony may be a cheese eating surrender monkey, but he's our cheese eating surrender monkey.

Next year we'll have two cheese eating surrender monkeys in the rotation. And an Argentine arch-nemesis Brazilian. I'm frankly scared. Who the heck will pass the ball to Manu?

Stoudamire, Finley, Horry, Thomas and Manu.  I think this is the oldest functional lineup in the NBA and by functional I mean they make it down the court slightly before the refs do.  I think we're witnessing history.
