Suspensions All Around: Horry Gets Two, Diaw and Stoudemire Get One

The NBA is retarded.

UGH.....
OK.. Horry deserves the suspension. Amare and Diaw, as much as I hate to say it, don't. I would rather have the Spurs smash the Suns with their best players than have the rest of the league and other fans think "but Amare and Diaw weren't playing" when the Spurs won game 5.

That being said... if the suspensions help us get to the next round, damn right I'll still be cheering for the Spurs!

Ugh, indeed, but...
Maybe this will usher in some flexibility from the league office in future.

I'm not sure whether it's the hyper-insane media atmosphere surrounding ALL American sports these days, in which every little thing is dissected to death in the hopes of attracting casual fans with "storylines" totally unrelated to the game, or the NBA's inability to see that not every fracas is another Malice at the Palace, but the reaction to the comparatively tame "physical" nature of this series is ridiculous.

Also, if anyone has seen a loose pair of Argentinian nads, please return them to E. Ginobili ASAP.

Re: Suspensions All Around: Horry Gets Two, Diaw
IF the spurs win game 5 sans amare and boris and the suns proceed to rebounda and win game 6 (adversity all up in their face in an elimination game on the road against the spurs team that supposedly has their number) that will be a tremendous buildup to a potential/really intriguing game 7.

Another thought: Anyone else think that Manu should be getting some more criticism for the ill advised plays/shots/dissappearing act he's taken this series?  I mean: taking contested jumpshots instead of feeding duncan, being careless with the basketball, not passing the basketball... if it was Parker, wouldn't he be hung in effigy by now?

The officiating was definitely suspect in game 4.

Re: Suspensions All Around: Horry Gets Two, Diaw
Can you imagine the reception Horry would receive from the Suns fans the minute he entered game 7?

Horry Gets Two, Diaw
If I were a Suns fan(which I'm not. I'm a Clippers fan) I would burn David Stern in effigy outside the arena at the game tomorrow night.

How can a supposedly intelligent man be so wrong-headed?

How can you penalize a team for a flagrant foul committed by someone on THE OPPOSING TEAM?

Does Stern want Horry to pick up another ring by ARM CHECKING OPPONENTS?

Re: Horry Gets Two, Diaw
letter of the law, man.  a standard has been set, you can't waver on it, circumstances a moot point.  i don't think it's fair and i'd rather beat the suns full power as well.  but management's gotta look out for the league, not just this series.

i like weed.

Re: Horry Gets Two, Diaw
Letter of the law should have also suspended Duncan for leaving the bench.  Stern is an idiot and the Spurs must love him for that.

Re: Horry Gets Two, Diaw
...well, Duncan WAS off the bench, but largely because he was still checked-in to play.
chaos... panic... pandemonium... my work here is done.

Re: Horry Gets Two, Diaw
Finally a sensible post.

Lok at this:

Horry who commits a senseless foul in the closing seconds of a game and tries to injure a two time MVP, gets two suspensions.

Two Suns players who apparently run to their apparently injured/victimized teammate get suspended for one game each. That is two suspensions.  Neither player has thrown a punch or attacked anyone.

A Spurs player veers from the bench in the second quarter. He is not even under investigation.

What kind of league is this?  The Thug league.

Re: Horry Gets Two, Diaw
Vash... I have yet to read anyone on here cheering on Stern's decision.  The fact that someone can understand WHY he decided the way he did doesn't mean they LIKE it.  Stern has his rules, and Diaw and Stoudemire stepped across the stupid line he drew - you can't just start wishing and claiming that Duncan should have also been caught in his dragnet and expect anyone but partisans to listen.

This whole situation sucked from top to bottom to begin with, and then Stern had to walk in and take a nice heaping steaming dump on it for effect, and maybe piss around the edges a bit for that extra j'ne se qua.

<dripping sarcasm>I just LOVE what has happened to this series.</dripping sarcasm>  Wasn't this billed as a match-up between the two good-guy teams of the NBA?  The two professional teams?  If you don't have your head up your ass, then maybe you'd notice just how bad this series has gotten?  Have you noticed that Bell and Nash have been out-flopping Manu?  Or that Nash has been out-complaining Duncan by a factor of 10-to-1?  Or maybe that Tony's taken several hits from Barbosa that would have gotten Bowen suspended?

In case you haven't noticed, the Suns aren't the only ones in this series getting ass-reamed sans lube.  I'm sick of the fucking refs... I'm sick of the fucking Suns fans whining like they're the only team that's ever had a bad call go against them.  I don't even fucking know if I'm going to watch tonight.

chaos... panic... pandemonium... my work here is done.

How can you suspend Duncan when he was on floor? Please make sense!
