If Michael Finley Finds a Basketball in the Forest, Does He Shoot It?

Well, since I gave stampler shit for taking forever to post his game recaps, I am pretty much obligated to scrape something together about last night's Clipper game.  But, man, was it a snooze-fest.  Everyone knew who was going to win that game.  The fans knew, I knew, even the players knew except for Jason Hart.  Awww, he tries so hard, it's almost cute.  I ain't trying to hurt nobodys' feelings, but I'd rather have Jacque Vaughn.

Who the hell was the color guy working with Dave Barnett?  He was fucking awful.  I'd rather listen to a 4 year old babble on about Veggie Tales.

Oh, shit, I know this cracka ain't blocking my shizzle. (Photo:  Tom Reel / Express News)

I must congratulate the Clippers on their remarkable achievement last night.  It only took them 4 games to get a lead against the Spurs.  That's right, their 2-0 advantage last night was their first lead against SA all season.  And they even managed to lead after one quarter!  Kudos.

Frenchie McWonderbutts did as he pleased all night, going for 25 on 8-16 and getting to the line for 12 attempts.

The Spurs came out defensively timid in the second half, so Pop scapegoated the usual suspects, pulling Parker and Barry for Vaughn and Finley a minute into the third.  The Clippers then went on to score on 6 of their next 7 possessions.  Hmm.  Maybe Pop should try subbing the entire team next time.  That would be all sorts of dramatic.

Finley continued in his attempts to drive me to a premature death.  13 points on 12 FGAs.  Barry had 2 FGA.  I'm going to force myself to stop there.

Big game on ESPN tonight:  Suns at Dallas.  The Mavericks are 4 point favorites.  A Suns win puts them only 2.5 games back of DAL.  I don't see that happening, though... DAL by 12.

Re: If Michael Finley Finds a Basketball in the F
Seeing how much Manu is hated on by the rest of the league, I couldn't help but LOVE the way Maggette simply gave up on defending him on that fast break.  There were THREE Clipper defenders against ONE Manu on the fast break... and they intentionally fouled him?  You could tell Maggette wasn't trying to hurt him, but he was unmistakeably tired of getting burned by the white boy - he wasn't ANGRY... just kinda ..."ok, that's enough.  I wanna go home now."  You could tell at that moment that the Clippers, or at least Maggette, had already mentally given up on the game.  He'd rather give up two free throws in a still undecided game than even ATTEMPT some defense and risk ending up on one of Manu's highlight clips.

In a really twisted way, that displayed some serious, and involuntary, respect for Manu - it's also exhibit number 13,594 on why Maggette would have had a hard time under Popovich.

chaos... panic... pandemonium... my work here is done.

Re: If Michael Finley Finds a Basketball in the F
Last night's game was symptomatic of why Parker frustrates so many Spurs fans. Sure he's a good player, and sure, he scored 26 points, and sure, he had his way in the paint. But, when Manu came into the game and hit three straight shots, two threes and a jumper, and not just hit them, but the shots were so sweet and pure, they should name a candy bar after 'em. So what happens? Manu gets 5 more shots, THE WHOLE NIGHT, and two of them are desperation, end-of-the-quarter, throwaways, while TP takes 18. TP wants to be considered in the same company as Steve Nash. He will when he can subvert his ego enough to recognize that when a guy is on fire, you feed him until it ends. Sadly, that's not likely to happen any time soon. And I fear that in the playoffs, that will be our undoing.

I know nobody likes to be corrected, but it's "barata" with one r, not two. Now if you want the real Argentine version, it'll be something along the line of..."Tu madre es un puta barata". Cool pictures by the way.

My bad on the extra r, but I was trying to call his mother a cheap cat, not a cheap whore.  Seriously.  I don't call other peoples' mothers whores.  But I will call other mothers' sons crackers.

Re: If Michael Finley Finds
Great comment agutierrez.  I want to add that I love the Clippers announcers. And they always give Manu the credit that he deserves.

Did you even hear when the Announcer said with all the shooters that the Spurs have, Tony has only had 10 assists 4 times this  year, and how he sometimes likes to shoot too much.

Now when the playoffs start Duncan is the first option but Manu better damn well be the second and if he is hot, definitely the first option. Even if Manu is hot like he was in Portland and Sac Town he will still find open teammates.

Parker had a good game, but he didn't even pass the ball at the end of the game. And yes I know I'm critizing but for our point guard to only get 4 assists and 18 shots is a little asburd isn't? And one of those assists came when Manu made that 3 pointer two feet behind the 3 point line.

We are very, very fortunate that Manu or Timmeth  don't have egos on this team, or they would be bitching about shot selections; because if Tony doesn't shoot at least 15 times in one game he will come back the next game and jack up at 17 shots.  (But this isn't new, a lot of people have been noticing this from Parker)

Also, why the fuck does Pop give Finley the green light to jack it up everytime he touches it. I mean he will shoot the ball no matter what. I don't know about you or me, but unless he is hot, he should pass the ball occassionally to his teammates. Fuck the only player that should be allowed to shoot it everytime should be Barry period and Pop doesn't let him do that!

That's an odd picture of Manu.  As Veronica Corningstone put it, "Mr. Burgandy you have a huge erection."

Re: If Michael Finley Finds a Basketball in the F
A big reason Manu had trouble getting shots was Cuttino Mobley.  Manu is a better offensive player than Tony, certainly, but I'd rather have Parker attacking Hart/Ewing than Manu attacking Mobley.

And let's focus on bitching about Finley, ok?

Re: If Michael Finley Finds a Basketball in the F
It was odd when Barry was pulled so quickly in the 3rd, supposedly for not playing defense.  And then Finley's man lights him up the next 3 possessions (or so it seemed, my memory is rough, it's hard to keep track of everytime Finley's man gets off).  What kills me is that Pop doesn't say a peep about Finley sucking on defense.

There is this Spurs mantra (myth?)  that Pop treats all players the same, but after the failed Van Exel experiment this clearly does not seem to be the case.  I know I may be reaching, and delving into armchair psychology here, but it seems like Pop is getting too settled in his ways. (Shocking.)  I wonder if he's lost some of his patience for coaching.

The lack of Johnny Ludden articles sucking on Melvin Ely's johnson makes me wonder if this guy will ever play, or any of the new guys for that matter.  I know its time to settle on the rotation but why waste the 2nd round pick on Ely if he's not going to get a shot?  Or were those 3 minutes in trash time his one and only audition?  Its not like out big men not named Duncan are really that good.

Anyway, what i'm really trying to say is - Finley sucks!

Finley could out shoot all u haters
LIke I said all along but no one believes me. NAPOLEON STERN has picked the SUNS as the Darlings of the NBA west to make finals so the SUNS will get all the calls  the way Dallas did last year. Dallas got all the ticky tack fouls against us then they go up 2-0 against MIAMI and then do not get the calls n choke. Payback is a bitch MAVS suckas@!

SUNS got all the calls all the BENEFITS OF DOUBT
Call me a conspiracy buff but the Dallas double ot loss to SUNS of a bitches proves my theory: THE SUNS ARE THE NBA darlings of NAPOLEON STERN.

C told ya so told ya so. Dallas should of won and they did not get the calls down the stretch. Napoleon stern is smiling oh yeah.

Taken from associated press:

"The top seed in the West is worth much more than bragging rights. In addition to the home-court advantage in every round, there's also a better draw; whichever team doesn't get No. 1 likely will be on course to meet the San Antonio Spurs in the second round. No wonder both teams played as if this was more than just another game."

No shit SHerlock, but who says we ain't gonna win #2 seed.

THe SUNS know and Mavz now this ain;t 2006 anymore this 2007 we are destined to make the FInals. NASH knows this N AMare will destroy DIRK.

A purely hypothetical question...
