Game Thread # 28 -- vs. Toronto (Plus Roster Moves)

The Spurs waived Darius Washington today and promptly signed Keith Langford.    This was after resigning Marcus Williams earlier in the week.  With Barry out for two weeks and Gino on the shelf as well the Spurs have stocked up on stop SGs / SFs.  They'll have a couple games to see what they have before contracts become official on January 10th.  It's doubtful the Spurs will keep both Langford and Williams on the roster due to luxury cap penalties.

I see... makes more sense with the Langford angle.  I thought Washington was the guy that made Beno expendable, but what the hell do I know.

Re: Game Thread # 28 -- vs. Toronto (Plus Roster M
Langford is the short 2 we've always never needed.  Darius could have been a very solid backup point guard.  I'll agree with Stampler that our coaches can't develop any young role players.  Mike Brown probably had the most effect on SJax's improvement with the Spurs.  I don't see anyone else on the coaching staff that can fill that role.

I think Pop feels like he's going to ride out this championship team until Tim doesn't have anything left.  And after that - the decline of the social contract, the return of the Ice Age, Holt sells the team to Austin, they change the name to the Austin Trustfunders, chaos and misery ensue...

So now it seems we have DerMarr Johnson. Woohoo. I believe this exceeds the team's cornrow quota.

Re: Game Thread # 28 -- vs. Toronto (Plus Roster M
Derek Anderson and SJax wore cornrows, but AFTER their time at the Spurs.  Would this be a first?

Anyway, I wonder if all this flurry of signing and cutting players could be now called the "Beno Effect".  Having seen their prodigal son succeed immediately after leaving the team, i wonder if they feel the pressure to find the next talent as quickly as possible.  Probably no connection, but coining cheap terms is fun.
